Music, books and movies

Hello, it's me again. Listening to this wonderful cd that finally came with the mail, yesterday.

I had been looking forward to this all week and so far I haven't been disappointed. Songs like the titletrack, I don't mind singing and Shameless heart are really gorgeous! Josh Kelley is not very famous yet, but he sounds a little like John Mayer (on this record less than on his first though), so maybe that will change. It's a rather romantic kind of music, but I find that I really like that kind of stuff, although I enjoy David Sylvian's dark and gloomy record Brilliant trees (that I bought yesterday) very much as well.

Yesterday I also finished The wind in the willows. A really funny book about Mole, Rat, Toad, Badger and some other animals that behave like humans. Now I've already read a hundred pages of the last Harry Potter. One of my roommates was so kind to lend it to me. Hype or not, I really like those books!

Oh, and I saw this wonderful movie last night: Ed Wood, by Tim Burton, with Johnny Depp. A great team. I liked it almost as much as Edword Scissorshand. I bought this dvd some time ago, but had not yet found the time to watch it. Nevertheless, I was actually going to watch Spiderman, but I found out that my dvd is Region 1 (!). Cannot play it... :( Well, there should be a solution to that, since I also have some other dvd's that are Region 1 that I have already watched here. By the way, Friday I also saw a great movie: Gladiator. I don't watch this kind of movies very often anymore, but I found that I was really impressed by this one. It's got a good story and it's very interesting from a historical point of view. As I've probably written before, I'm very much interested in the ways moviemakers and novelist deal with history and the way they portray historical events and persons, because it tells us something about the place history has in our society. Maybe I'll write some more about that later.

Well, gotta go now. Find something to eat and then go out on my bike, because the weather is too nice to stay inside all day. And of course, I still have to work on a plan to make this blog much better than it is now. ;-)
